We currently have EG4.2 installed on our PCs. Does it make sense to upgrade it to EG4.22 or should we wait until the next version of EG, 4.3, comes out with the new features? Are the improvements from 4.2 to 4.22 worth an upgrade of about 100 PCs?

Suggest you search the SAS Support site for EG 4.22. You will find a list of software fixes for this release (essentially a maintenance release). You should then be able to decide if upgrading is worthwhile or not.

after seeing if the bug fixes mandate an upgrade, you can look at the time to deploy vs the time to getting 4.3. 4.3 is due within the month.

Per Chris' presentation at SGF, 4.3 adds little for the point'n'click user. It has a lot for SAS programmers who might use it.

4.22 (also known as 4.2 maintenance 2) is the version that is currently supported with hotfixes as needed. It was released in Sept 2009, and since then has received periodic hotfixes for customer reported issues. If you run into a problem that requires a fix, you would have to update to 4.22. Here are the documented fixes *since* 4.22:

There were also a number of fixes within 4.22 that aren't listed here.

If you are installing on newer operating systems (Windows 7, Windows 2008 R2), then you will want the most recent versions because the newer installers are more "aware" of those systems and how to ensure system requirements are met.

4.3 is due out this summer. Not quite as soon as "within the month" as Doc indicated, but I still feel good about saying "summer"...
