I'm getting a sporadic prompt as shown here. Any ideas? I've created a new connection profile in EG, and still same issue. I've made sure the password is saved in the connection profile in EG. This prompting doesn't happen all the time, just intermittently. Frustrating! Usually my PC credentials should automatically authenticate.
EG prompts for credentials when the stored/supplied credentials don't work, for whatever reason. If you allow EG to cache your credentials, then when you see this prompt -- EG has already attempted a connection and it failed, hence the prompt.
So...what can cause a failed connection? The SAS Metadata Server is running, or else you wouldn't see the prompt. The simplest answers are incorrect user ID and/or password.
But if it's set up with host authentication, perhaps sync'd with Active Directory, it's possible that this process is out of sync. Your SAS admin might need to investigate. You (or your admin) might need to examine the SAS Metadata Server logs to see what's captured for your login attempt.
Also, a SAS admin can set a policy to disallow the local caching of the password. You might need to verify that's not the cause.
I had this credentials popup appear this morning during a save, and managed to type in 2 characters of my user name (but had not pressed the OK button) before it tried to continue the save.
This locked up the SAS EG session and had to terminate it.
Fortunately, on restarting, I recovered most of the code mods made before it locked up.
It also asked for creds again on startup, but as the project was being recovered, not specifically on a save.
Good news: We've extended SAS Hackathon registration until Sept. 12, so you still have time to be part of our biggest event yet – our five-year anniversary!
