Hi, I am trying to understand how SAS EM does Clustering.  There are three nodes.  Under Explore there are two, (i) Cluster and (ii) Variable Clustering.  Then there is HP Cluster.  Of the three only Variable Clustering generates dendrogram chart.

I have two questions.

1.  What are the differences among the three nodes?

2. How to generate dendrogram when using Cluster or HP Cluster node?

Thank you.

Dileep

p.s. I am using SAS Enterprise Miner 14.2

Variable Clustering clusters your inputs for the purpose of dimension reduction.  The other two, Cluster and HP Cluster, are for clustering observations for unsupervised segmentation of your data.  There is some information about the differences between the 2 procedures used in these nodes here:

https://communities.sas.com/t5/SAS-Communities-Library/Tip-K-means-clustering-in-SAS-comparing-PROC-...

And more information on the Cluster node here:

Since these 2 nodes aren't performing hierarchical clustering, I don't believe you can create dendrograms for these.
