Hi all,

Hope you can help. We've recently updated our server with the new SAS 9.4 set of applications (we have several DataFlux products, like DF Managment Server, DF Studio, DF Web Server, DF Web Studio, etc.). We noticed that the Business Data Network is no longer available in the DataFlux Web Studio. This is confirmed in Web Studio documentation:

What's New in DataFlux Web Studio 2.5

DataFlux Web Studio 2.5 no longer contains the Business Data Network module. SAS Business Data Network 3.1 and SAS Lineage 3.1 are now available as Web clients.

Now we’re trying to find out how to access the Business Data Network. From what we can tell, it looks like it was installed (but we can’t see where), and we’re licensed for it. But how do you get to it? We need the location of the executables.

While researching this, we found the below content at:

http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/dmbdnug/67320/HTML/default/viewer.htm#n15bgt7rdmv0v0n18t...

One way to access SAS Business Data Network is through the SAS Data Management Console home page. When SAS Business Data Network is installed, the Links section contains a link to the SAS Business Data Network window.

We’ve never head of the “Data Management Console”, so we’re not sure how to get there. We’ve looked around extensively for this as well. Nothing that we have installed has a "Links" section, unless it's very well hidden.

And for those who don't know, the SAS Business Data Network was previously a part of the DataFlux Web Studio, accessible through a tab.

Thanks in advance!

Mark,

In windows 7, you can find the Data Management Console by going  to

start --> all programs --> sas --> SAS Data Management Console 9.4

I'm not sure where it lives in other installs.

Hi Doc,

Thanks for your help. Yes, the Data Management Console was there. It looks like it needs to be configured to know where all the various modules and services are. Still don't know where the BDN is, so I can't use the DM Console to get there.

Thanks again,

Hi Mark,

The short answer to "what happened to Business Data Network" is that it went from being a DataFlux developed, branded, and deployed product (via DataFlux Web Studio) to being a SAS Data Management developed, branded, and deployed product (via the SAS mid-tier).

The SAS Data Management Console is a centralized, role-based UI for accessing all of the various web components for SAS Data Management. You do not have to use Data Management Console to access SAS Business Data Network, but as the documentation suggests, you certainly can get to it from there.

The default port for all web components for SAS Data Management is based on the settings configured by the mid-tier installer, and is 80, and is not required if it is 80. So if the default port is used, then you can just say this:

http://hostname/SASBusinessData

If the port is setup as a port other than default, then all the web components for SAS Data Management will use it, so if it was setup for example to be 7980, then it has to be specified, like this:

http://hostname:7980/SASBusinessData

See if this works for you.

Regards,

Mike F.

Hi MIke,

Thanks for this!  I will try it when I have a moment, and will let you know.

Thanks!
