BMS has used the learning opportunities and relationships we have built with SAS to host internal workshops for our experienced statistical programmers in the US and Europe, which have had a hugely positive impact on our SAS community. By working alongside SAS, we were able to create a series of workshops that focused on advanced statistical programming techniques, visualizations and best practices. These workshops helped our team members to improve their skills and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.
Through these workshops, we were able to share knowledge and expertise with our colleagues and community, which helped to build a stronger and more collaborative team. By working together and sharing our experiences, we were able to develop new solutions and approaches to complex analytical problems, which ultimately helped us to deliver better results internally for BMS.
Overall, we believe that partnering SAS to host internal and external workshops had a positive impact on our SAS User community by helping to build a more skilled and collaborative team of statistical programmers. By sharing this growth mindset, we were able to improve our performance and deliver better outcomes for our patients.

What was your most surprising discovery about your work?
The partnership we build between BMS and SAS which went beyond a traditional customer-client relationship and is a genuine collaboration between two engaged partners. It was not just a case of us re-using learning material created by SAS to deliver generic workshops, our partners at SAS had a genuine desire to understand what our gaps were, our existing knowledge and how they could bring maximum value to our engagements together. Within delivering the workshops they were also keen to hear and understand those problems being faced by daily users of SAS, and how they could work alongside us to answer the challenges and opportunities these discussions presented.
