Hello,

I have a few questions about the migration from SAS MA 6.6 to SAS 360 Engage direct. Currently we are using SAS MA 6.6 and we are planning to move to SAS 360 Engage direct, I would like to know the steps involved in this migration.

  • Do we need a new server to install the SAS 360 Engage Direct component, or can we use the existing mid-tier to install this? Can we run both MA and Engage direct in parallel on the same server?
  • Would there be any configurational changes? is there any guide I could refer to ?

I suggest you open a track with SAS Tech Support on this issue. You are using specialist products which are not widely used.

Whether you upgrade in-place or do a new install will depend on many factors. For example is it technically feasible to upgrade in-place and if so how long will the upgrade take? You need to bear in mind that your installation will be out of action during the upgrade. Is it acceptable to be down for this period?

What are the risks that your existing applications no longer work as expected post-upgrade? Do you need to run both installations in parallel for a period to ensure that migrated applications work correctly and give the same results?

I would suggest spin up a new VM or server with SAS 9.4 (Metadata, Compute, Mid-tier). Install the Direct agent on that server. Import the Infomap to the new server. A few additional properties have to be added to the infomap.

If you do it on a new server, the downtime is minimal.

When setting up the direct agent on the new VM, you will need to open firewall to the cloud Ci360. There are some steps that need to be done to establish the connect. Documentation is available online. I would suggest raising a sas track and they can take you through the steps. It will take some time though.
