Do you know where to find the log files for troubleshooting SAS® Marketing Optimization 6.x issues?

1. Filename SAS MarketingOptimization6.x.log (MidTier)

Location:  <SASPlanName> Lev1/Web/Logs/SASServer6_1/

Log Contents:

Middle tier errors, information about when a stored process has been run from the middle tier. This log file will tell you if the connection to your MidTier Server is established.

2. Filename MarketingOptimization_yyyy-mm-dd_pid.log(ComputeTier)

Location:

<SASPlanName>Lev1/Applications/SASCustomerIntelligence/SASMarketingOptimization/Logs

Log Contents:

Code and results from the SAS Marketing Optimization macros that are executed by the SAS Pooled Workspace Server. This is the primary log for SAS Marketing Optimization.

3. Filename SASApp_PooledWSServer_yyyy-mm-dd_machine_pid.log(ComputeTier)

Location:

<SASPlanName> \Lev1\SASApp\PooledWorkspaceServer\Logs

or

<SASPlanName>\Lev1\Logs

Log Contents:

The Pooled Workspace server log is your first line of defense whenever you get an error in the Marketing Optimization user interface that you do not understand. For example, if the user interface displays an unexpected error when you try to save a scenario, create input data, or view optimization reports, you should first check the Pooled Workspace server log; this log often provides more information about the error.

4. Filename optimize_x.log(ComputeTier)

Location:

<SASPlanName>\Lev1\Applications\SASCustomerIntelligence\SASMarketingOptimization\scenarios\userid\BusinessContext\Scenario Name\log

Log Contents:

If an optimization returns a status of Failed for a scenario, you should check the optimization log for errors.

5. Filename ShareServer_host name.log(ComputeTier)

Location:

<SASPlanName>\Lev1\ShareServer\Logs

or

<SASPlanName>\Lev1\Logs

Log Contents:

Information about when users connect and disconnect, details about the MO datasets located under SAS/Share.

More information about the various log files and how to increase debug can be found in the SAS® Marketing Optimization 6.x Administrator’s Guide located at: http://support.sas.com/documentation/solutions/ci/6.4/moag.pdf Chapter 9, page 88 “Summary of Logs for Troubleshooting”.

Hi Bet_ty,

Does SAS have an official log analyzer?  If not, any plan to get one or any tool SAS would recommend.

Thanks

Hello,

you might want to download the "SAS® Business Intelligence Color Coding and Reporting Tools", which is really helpful to analyze the log files created by the SAS Servers. Please have a look at this SAS Note: http://support.sas.com/kb/19/889.html describing where to find it.

The zip file also contains some nice screenshot and example reports.

Thanks,

Bet_ty
