Data4Good 2025: How to Earn your SAS Knowledge Badge

Data4Good 2025 is a national student competition for undergraduate and master’s students to tackle real-world cases using data analysis and AI. As part of the competition, participants are encouraged to earn a SAS Knowledge Badge to upskill and further their standing in the competition. 850 competition points per student (a maximum of 2550 points per team) will be awarded for the completion of a SAS Knowledge Badge.

Access to SAS Skill Builder for Students, SAS’s learning platform designed specifically for students, is required to undertake a SAS Knowledge Badge. To access SAS Skill Builder for Students, follow the steps below:

1. Visit the SAS Skill Builder for Students webpage.
2. Click on Access SAS Skill Builder.
3. You’ll be prompted to log into or create a SAS profile. To validate your access to SAS Skill Builder for Students, your profile must use an email address associated with your academic domain. If you already have a SAS Profile but it doesn’t use your academic email address, be sure to change it prior to registering for Skill Builder to maintain any learning progress you've already made. Here's how to do that. 
4. Review and accept the license agreement. Once you do that, you will be taken directly into Skill Builder.

Once you are inside SAS Skill Builder for Students, follow the instructions below to navigate to the SAS Knowledge Badge pathways to learn how to earn your competition points!

1. Under My Library, click on the Certification and Badges tab on the left.
2. Click the Explore button in the blue box titled SAS Knowledge Badges for Academics.
3. You’ll be taken to a page listing the two SAS Knowledge Badges you can earn. Click on the Start button for your credential of interest to get started!

Please note that each Knowledge Badge requires the completion of one or more SAS digital learning courses followed by a passing score on an assessment.

Make sure you take advantage of free SAS academic software to complete your SAS Knowledge Badge! To access SAS Viya Workbench for Learners, follow the steps below:

1. Visit the SAS Viya Workbench for Learners webpage.
2. Click Access now.
3. You’ll be prompted to log in or create a SAS profile. To validate your access to SAS academic software, your profile must use an email address associated with your academic domain. If you already have a SAS Profile but it doesn’t use your academic email address, be sure to change it prior to registering. Here's how to do that.
4. Review and accept the license agreement. Once you do that, you will be taken to the SAS Viya Workbench for Learners launch page. Click Launch Software to get started.

Hello @Academic_Lori . Which is the specific badge we need to earn for the competition? I tried following the provided instructions to access it, But I was not provided access to the Knowedge Badges for Academics when I searched it in the search bar. I also could not find any similar category under the course catalogue. However, I did find a "AI Foundations Knowedlge Badge" under the course catalogue. Is this one of the two badges we may earn? Please and Thank you.                                                   PD: I need to ask for an extension to earn the badge, as I have not been able to earn the badge because of this issue. Moreover, I am abroad currently, and even though I created my SAS Account, I am unsure if this affects my ability to access the badge. I would need the extension for January 5th preferably. Please and thank you.
