In past posts I wrote about modifying the appearance of plans in SAS Intelligent Planning by changing the dimensions of the plan, as well as the members of the plan. The purpose of this post is to show additional methods of customizing the plan such as modifying the headers that are displayed, modifying the cell appearance, and creating a personal view of plans.

The format of header cells can be modified in the table. Header cells represent selected members of a dimension to be included in the plan. For example, in the following table the highlighted cells are header cells.

Select any image to see a larger version.
Mobile users: To view the images, select the "Full" version at the bottom of the page.

The format of the header cells can be changed by right clicking on the desired cell, then selecting Header format. The planner then selects from the list of options to change the format to. Currently the Name format is selected. The planner can change the format to whatever is best for them.

Formatting can be applied at the member or cell level. Any formatting that is applied to a member will apply to all levels of the member. The exception is when a cell is formatted because the cell formatting overrides the member formatting. Formatting can be altered by right clicking the member or cell respectively and selecting either member or cell formatting. The Format window appears. The formatting options are to change the font settings, color of the background, and apply formatting to the number. For Font, typical font settings such as the font name, size, and color are available. Additionally, there is the option to make the font Bold, Italic, or Underlined.

The options that are available for Number depend on the data type. There are Number, Date, and Currency. For Currency, there is the option to Show symbol which adds the money symbol before the number, how many decimal places to round, whether to show the 1000 separator, and how to display negative numbers.

One feature that is used to help planners save time is the personal view option. After a planner has made changes to the format of the plan, they can create a personal view which saves a copy of the changes. The changes that can be saved in a personal view include layout changes, changes to member selection rules, label preferences, and the selection of slicers. To create a personal view select Save as personal view and enter a name.

You can then switch between multiple personal views by selecting the Manage personal views button and then select the desired personal view.

This post showed additional ways to modify the appearance of a plan. Future posts will dive into more detail about how to work with plans such as changing the values of cells and analytics that can aid in the planning process. Additional information can be found in the Essentials of SAS Intelligent Planning course which is part of the SAS Internet of Things Learning Subscription.
