Which courses are necessary for BASE SAS Certification

Are both of these courses recommended for the Base Certification?

1. SAS(R) Programming 1: Essentials

2. SAS(R) Programming 2: Data Manipulation Techniques

I have heard that the second one might not be necessary, but any advice or input is helpful!

Yes, those are the two courses recommended on our certification web site.  I would highly recommend that you check out the information posted for the BASE Programmer at the SAS Global Certification website.  There are a number of good resources available there for you to use to help with your studies.  In addition,  I might also suggest checking out our webinar series for the SAS BASE Programmer credential.  Go to this link:
