I invested in the SAS Certified Professional Prep Guide - advanced programming using SAS 9.4 to help prepare for my exam next week.

Since there is a practice exam available from SAS, I was expecting that the guide would help me navigate through that practice exam. So for, it doesn’t seem to line up?

Does the prep guide have any direct connection to the practice exam?

The Prep Guide prepares for the exam not for the practice exam. Part 1, 2 and 3 deal with the subject areas covered in the exam. Part 4, the workbook, prepares for the exam by using practice scenarios. On page 362 you can view "Differences between the Workbook and Certification Exam".
