what is the significance of two kinds of combinations, concatenating and appending? For the forth two datasets are simply integrated in a bigger set and the latter is attached even without creating a new dataset. The second dataset is attached in some cases by Force. Are these two extensively used in practical dataset manipulation?

You can join two data sets left to right (in various ways), this is concatenating. You can join two data sets top to bottom, this is appending.
