Hi,

I found in the SAS Global certification Site:

Advanced Programmer | SAS

Candidates who earn this credential must have a SAS Certified Base Programming for SAS®9 exam credential
and then take and pass the SAS Advanced Programming for SAS®9 exam

Does this translate to: If a person is not a SAS Certified Base Programmer for SAS 9 he/she can not appear for SAS Advanced Programming for SAS 9 exam ?

Hello,

I work in SAS Global Certification.  The post is correct that you must hold must have a SAS Certified Base Programming for SAS®9 exam credential and then take and pass the SAS Advanced Programming for SAS®9 exam.  You can take the exam out of sequence and take the Advanced Programming exam first but you will not receive credit for that credential until you take and pass the Base Programming for SAS 9 exam.

Hope this helps to clarify.

Thanks again @beccagre , What does credit mean in this context?

Hello,

Credit means that you have a record in our credential management system that indicates that you took and passed an exam and that record is in your transcript.  We require that you take and pass the BASE programmer exam in order to receive credit for taking and passing the Advanced Programmer exam if you choose to take the exams out of sequence.

Hope this clarifies.
