Hi:

  Some answers to your questions:

1. How to best prepare for the exam?

The exam is a "practical" exam. You will use Enterprise Miner to perform a case study in order to answer the questions. So the best practice is knowing how to use Enterprise Miner. The Enterprise Miner practice exam is designed like the graded exam. So the Practice Exam is the best example you could go by. The Practice Exam code is: PE-255P

2. Are there any theoretical questions?

We cannot discuss what will be on the exam, other than to say that that there will be 55-60 multiple choice and short-answer questions. There are some sample questions here: https://www.sas.com/content/dam/SAS/en_us/doc/other1/certification/samples/predictive-modeling.pdf

3.  Are there any short sentence questions? Yes, the exam web site explains that there will be 55-60 multiple choice and short-answer questions. There is also a video on this web site: https://www.sas.com/en_us/certification/credentials/advanced-analytics/predictive-modeler-14.html  that talks about the exam and how you have to navigate when you take the exam. Here's a screen shot of where the video is on the page:

4. Should I study SAS books of Mr. Sarma and any other relevant material?

Please review the information here: https://www.sas.com/en_us/certification/credentials/advanced-analytics/predictive-modeler-14.html under the section entitled Training & Exam Preparation. You will find Dr. Sarma's book listed as a recommended book. We also recommend the Applied Analytics using SAS Enterprise Miner class as preparation, along with the Practice Exam, listed above.

Here is the detailed content guide for the Predictive Modeling exam: https://www.sas.com/content/dam/SAS/en_us/doc/other1/certification/exam-content/predictive-modeling1...

Hope this helps you study for the exam. All of the recommended preparation is shown on the web site for the exam, listed above.

Thanks, Cynthia for the detailed reply. It seems that SAS Academy Elearning material is sufficient for the certification exam.

Also,  can I get the practice files used in SAS E miner to practice stand alone?

Hi:
The Applied Analytics using SAS Enterprise Miner course is the recommended course for the Predictive Modeling certification and it is available as classroom format training; Live Web format training; and also as a self-paced e-learning class.

The class is available outside of the SAS Academy for Data Science (but it is also one of the 9 classes courses that are covered in the Advanced Analytics Professional part of the Academy).

So Applied Analytics using SAS Enterprise Miner is offered as a "stand-alone" course and it is also part of the SAS Academy program.

If you purchase the e-learning course, the data to practice on a personal workstation configuration or a remote server is provided inside the course. If you take the Classroom or Live Web version of the class, you get the data for practicing after class is over (because during class you use the data on our computer lab machines.)

For students who do NOT have access to Enterprise Miner through their work or school, we also sell Virtual Lab time on the Amazon AWS where you have access to an image that contains both EM and the class data. However, since you have EM available locally, you don't need this option. Students who purchase the Virtual Lab time use the data that's already loaded on the server.

If you purchase Dr. Sarma's book, you'll have to check the book web site to see whether Example Data is provided for the book. Many SAS authors do provide data sets or programs to make data.

Hope this helps,
Cynthia
