Hi! I want to practice a few Programming Essentials training topics, but my SAS virtual lab access is almost expired. Is there any wat I can renew or extend the virtual lab access to review and practice training topics?

Hi:

Your first activation of Programming 1 comes with 180 days of access to the e-learning class and with 180 days of access to the Virtual Lab on our server. If you activate Programming 1 a second time after your first activation, then you have 2 choices for getting hands-on practice. Hopefully, after your first 6 months with the course, you'll be interested in using SAS on some of your own data or data from your instructor. In this case, a SAS OnDemand for Academics account would be a better choice because you will get an account with 5GB disk space in which you can load the Programming 1 programs and data and also work with your own data and programs.

If you want to keep using the Virtual Lab via Citrix during your second activation of the free Programming 1 class, then at the present time, we need to manually reset the access on your Virtual Lab AFTER the second activation. As an example, to make the math easier, lets say that your first activation was from Jan 1, 2022 until June 30, 2022 and you used all your 180 days of Virtual Lab access via Citrix during this first 180 days. On the day AFTER June 30, you can activate Programming 1 for a second activation. So now, you activate Programming 1 on July 5, 2022 (because you went to the beach over the 4th of July). So for this second activation, you will have another 180 days of access to the CLASS starting on July 5, 2022 and ending in January 2023. But when you log on to the class, you see that your Virtual Lab has expired.

In this case, you need to send mail to elearn@sas.com and ask to have your Virtual Lab via Citrix reset manually. Or you can choose to use SAS OnDemand for Academics. The e-learning class has instructions for how to make the data on the SAS OnDemand server and there are also instructions for accessing the data in the Citrix Virtual Lab.

The biggest difference between the 2 methods is that on the SAS OnDemand for Academics server you can upload and download files easily and you can have more than one class stored in your 5GB space and you can upload your own data to the server for practicing. With the Citrix Virtual Lab you can only use the data that we've preloaded on the server for the class.

The bottom line is that if you want to practice exactly what is in the class as far as programs or data, then send us mail and we can reset your access. Please be sure to let us know your email address profile (some people have more than one profile account) and the name of the class you're requesting the Virtual Lab reset for.
