SAS VA Date Formats

Hi all,

recently I've found that the date 2936547  (i.e. 31dec9999)  is formatted differently in SAS (9.4) and VA (7.4):

SAS seems "correct", while VA formats this date as 29dec9999.

So, it seems that SAS uses the "4000" rule for leap years (there is no 29feb4000 and 29feb8000), while VA does not.

Is this correct? Is the "4000" rule valid and accepted?

Looks like this question has been asked before, but without a firm solution:

Might be worth checking how the days 28feb4000 and 01mar4000 are represented and see if they are 1 or 2 days apart.

Getting in touch with SAS Technical Support might also be a way forward if no one else has an answer.
