Form a class variable to a continuous one

Hi guys, I'm working with two data sets. In both cases I have to work with the age (I have to correct the regression for the presence of covariates) but in the first data set I have the age variable as a  continuous variable while in the second case I have classes. Is there a way to convert classes of age into a continuous variable? This is totally new for me.

Hardly possible to convert "Age 20-30" to an actual age. At least not without guessing.

If you only have classes and there is no further information then there are only crude ways left, like substituting a representative/mean age for each level.
