Avoiding truncations when importing from Excel

Hi,

When importing an Excel spreadsheet using PROC IMPORT, text fields which are longer than 255 characters are truncated. How can I avoid this? I have searched the web and tried setting different options but didn't succeed in finding a solution so far. I hope that someone in this forum can help me.

seems exactly relevant to your situation. To find this Note, I went to:
http://support.sas.com/techsup and in the search box on the right hand side of the first Tech Support screen, I typed
[pre]
IMPORT Excel truncate 255
[/pre]
into the search box. This Note was the 4th item returned.
