I am pretty sure I will need you on this.

I have the below dataset.- Diabetes

For some reason,the constraints are not getting applied.-->>may be I am wrong

Please note: You will have to edit the macro "wpath" for your scenario. I have attached the additional codes here.

Questions:

  • Why does the Solution Status says "Failed"
  • Why does all my weights turn out to be 0?

Because all the weights turn out to be 0 the resulting output(variable nn_output from temp_output dataset) will not be equal to 0 or 1.

It comes write in the middle of 0.5.

This needs to be <0.5 when class =0 and >0.5 when class=1.

The issue is that the problem is probably infeasible.  The form of the problem is to minimize a sum-of-squares objective sum {i in OBS} (y[i] – a[i])^2 subject to equality constraints y[i] = a[i].  If these constraints were feasible, the optimal objective value would be 0.  Even running multistart in distributed mode on a grid with more than 100 workers, I was not able to find a feasible solution.  The constraints are not ignored but are difficult (probably impossible) to satisfy.  Both the iteration log and the Solution Summary report an Infeasibility of 0.5.  If I omit the constraints, the smallest objective value I get is 33.119976397, and the resulting variable values are not all 0.

If you are getting any warnings or note much more than number of observations used you might post the LOG with them.

Can we use optmodel or any other SAS/OR procedure where we can have such binary outputs--0 or 1?

In this example that i provided the Class variable has values like 0 or 1.

Do we have any similar example?

PROC OPTMODEL includes access to the mixed integer linear programming (MILP) solver, which support binary variables.

 

You might also be interested in this thread that illustrates using the quadratic programming (QP) solver to implement SVM.
