Dear community team,

I hope you be fine. I am working on an optimization model and as the model is a bit complicated, I would like to solve that using the decomposition method. After googling, I found that SAS has an optimization engine that can perform the decomposition method automatically. Unfortunately, I don't not familiar with your engine and was wondering if, is there any way to download and install it?

Best regards

Abbas

If you already have SAS available in a licensed environment, but OR is missing, talk to your responsible SAS admin/org people; they will need to license it (at cost, of course) and install/configure it from a new SAS depot(download).

If you do not yet have SAS, then SAS on Demand for Academics will provide a way to evaluate SAS/OR. But be aware that, for a complete newcomer, the initial learning curve is quite steep; I suggest to first work through the free online Programming 1 course (free courses found here) to get a feel for the software, and learn the basics.

Which SAS environment is it?
If you want to get the latest SAS software to run on your PC SAS, please contact your SAS representative.
Currently, SAS 9.4 TS1M7 has been released, so you should be able to use the latest software by installing that.
Incidentally, SAS On Demand for Academics seems to be equivalent to M6.

Many thanks for your reply.

I can create an academic on-demand account. I have thought such as other academic solvers, like CPLEX, SAS/OR is a stand-alone software to install on a local machine, but it is a cloud-based software. I was wondering if, is there any way to use that as a stand-alone software?

All these SAS modules are based on the main SAS system itself, so you need at least SASFoundation installed.

For those who do not have a SAS installation, On Demand is the proper way to evaluate the software.
