"Reply" versus "Quick Reply" - What is the difference?

If we answer to a topic we have the choice between "Reply" and "Quick Reply". What is the difference between the two?

Please help to keep the community friendly.

From user perspective: there are no formatting options in quick reply.
Also, after you have replied you can back out directly to the previous screen. The normal reply will back you back only to the post.
