What is the difference between SAS FOUNDATION and SAS BUSINESS ANALYTICS PLATFORM ?

Thanks, I believe they're referring here to a desktop installation - which runs locally and is limited by a computers resources versus a full platform installation which involves setting up servers, having a data infrastructure set up, and then everyone connecting to it, via SAS Foundation. Bad terminology on their part IMO.

But the good thing about SAS is that it doesn't need much desktop resources to be efficient whereas you do with other languages. It's not an in memory application on desktop.

Hi @jorgealem,

SAS Foundation simply means the core software/ binaries required to run SAS on your computer/Server. Usually it is installed as a standalone application on desktop and has an interactive window to submit and process your sas code.

Where as, BA Platform is full suite of SAS Products or solutions installed/configured on server grade machine(s) with complex offerings like parallel execution, metadata security, encryption etc. It also have web based point and click interfaces making it more user friendly to users from non programming background. However the core of this platform is SAS Foundation as well but with extra features as mentioned.
