Honestly, I think I would look for an entry-level job.

Formal internship programs (where they exist) are likely to be geared more toward undergrad / grad students or recent grads, and pull directly from the schools via established relationships/pathways.

My first job using SAS was an analyst for a social policy think-tank.  Other places would have called it a research assistant. All I had to offer was a BA in psychology and a couple semesters of using SAS while pursuing an MPH (never finished).  They were basically hiring smart people out of college and training them, including providing SAS training.

There are industries that are hard to break into without domain experience (Pharma, banking. ...)  So for someone starting out, I would perhaps look for a job at a university, or a think-tank, or maybe even Fed govt.  And I would look for an analyst  / research assistant role at a place that uses SAS.  The good thing about looking for SAS jobs is the keyword search is easy. : )

Good luck.

One way to demonstrate your skills and drive is participation in a SAS Hackathon. You then use this in your applications for an internship. ...or if you rank really well then the internship might find you.

Another or added option would be to get SAS certified (incurs cost). Anything that demonstrates/proves your skills will do.

In many country the job market is an employee market. The moment you can sufficiently demonstrate your skills you should be able to find an entry level job. Your first job might not be your dream job but it's what will give you the foot into the door to progress to your dream job.

Thank you, Patrick.

I looked and liked the SAS Hackathon! How do I find a volunteer position working side by side with SAS programmer working on a real project? I am an excellent troubleshooter and very creative! I have a mix of experience in multiple technologies (Rexx, Web, Android...) and certifications as Clinical Medical Assistant and as Pharmacy Technician. I worked for Rothman as Summer position 2021 as Clinical Operations Specialist. How can I be of service?
