Any notes or document to know the process of SAS94M8 deployment on cloud?

Please share the experience on SAS94 configuration on cloud VM ?

Are you migrating from an earlier version or is this a new installation? If migrating then the Migration Focus Area is a good place to start.

For installing the Install Center is the place to start. The install process for on-cloud is the same as on-premises. Configuration details will no doubt be different.

Have you gone through a requirements, sizing and design process and have you confirmed your cloud and SAS architecture yet?

What experience do you and your team have in installing SAS on-premises and / or on-cloud? If you don't have prior install or on-cloud experience then I'd highly recommend getting specialist expert help.

Hi ,

Thanks for the details.

We are currently supporting SAS94M7 on-premises where we have 2 compute AIX machines and 3 Linux machine (Installed meta and web in each machine).

Plan propose to upgrade M8 on cloud , so checking the process and advantages if upgrade can take place into cloud than on-premises.

Since you will be doing a migration from M7, then you will do doubt want to use the SAS Content Assessment tool for managing what needs to be migrated. A lot will depend on any architectural changes you want to make on-cloud. I recommend being careful with your on-cloud service level and hosting agreements. Make sure that it is clear who is responsible for what and what happens if there are any technical issues.

My first thought that came to mind was the graphic that I've spotted on some stickers "There is no cloud, its just someone else's computer".

Jokes aside there isn't a whole load extra to consider over and above all the other typical considerations that have to be made for any SAS deployment. You still have all the big questions to answer. Sizing, architecture, data access, authentication & authorization, availability, backup and restore, disaster recovery, dev/test/prod environments... all these questions still need answers whether you deploy to the cloud or not.

Deploying to the cloud might see you adjust some of the design choices but big picture whether you are deploying to the cloud or not you typically end up with a similar type of deployment.
