Just curious, is it SAS Viya 3.5 will be having inbuilt capability to support SAS EG (without having SAS 9)? Thanks.

Yes, that is theoretically possible. However, if you are migrating legacy SAS 9 applications do not expect them to work without problems on Viya as the architecture is so different.

EG 8.2 is able to connect directly to a SAS Workspace Server instead of requiring a SAS Metadata Server connection. Since SAS Viya does not have a metadata server then you need EG 8.2 to work with Viya.
