Hello,

I am trying to update the license for my SAS 9.4. I have tried running the Renew SAS Software 9.4 and the actual sasdm file as an administrator and every time, I get to the "User Access Control" prompt and click "yes", the screen goes away but nothing else happens. I have tried closing all other programs and still nothing. Then I tried to uninstall SAS so I could reinstall it again and of course the same Deployment Manager is needed and will not work. I looked at the logs and below is what it says. I bolded the error statements. I am not sure what to do.

I'm guessing that there is a Java compatibility issue going on.

If your licence hasn't expired then a workaround is to open a SAS Windowing Environment session (sas.exe), copy in your PROC SETINIT statements (remove or comment non-SAS statements) and submit it. You should then get a message in the log about site info being updated.

You are my hero, thank you so much! In all of my googling, I did not realize that you could copy and paste the PROC SETINIT statements and that would do it. Thank you again!!!

@cmendoza87  - Back in the day this was the only way of updating your SAS licence. Despite the newer methods, the original way is still available.

Hello,

we're experiencing exectly the same behaviour where DM (from a completely fresh installation of SAS 9.4 M7 on Win Server 2022 German) does not start and the respective log file shows:

ERROR: ExeProc::ExeandDisplay::GetStdHandle::NULL=183
Tue May 03 10:21:06 2022
INFO: ExeProc::ReadFromPipe=Standard output
Error: could not open `C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASDeploymentManager\9.4\products\privatejre__99573__wx6__xx__sp0__1\lib\i386\jvm.cfg'

Even after executing the commands between PROC SETINIT and SAVE;RUN; from our SID file (this is correct, isn't it?), the Log shows:

[...]
---High Performance Suite
30APR2023 (CPU A)
NOTE: Siteinfo data have been updated.

But still DM does not start and it's privatejre-folder is almost empty (compared to our old server):

Is there anything else we can try?

Thanks in advance.

Given this is a new installation I'd question if the installation was successful or if maybe it is incomplete. You may want to engage technical support to help review your install logs.

@IMBI-IT  - Your licence applied successfully. If SAS Deployment Manager still isn't starting then some other problem must be causing it. As @gwootton suggests, Tech Support is your best option to progress this.
