SAS 9.4 license

Hello all,
We have all in one aws SAS server up and running. We like to upgrade SAS server from OS perspective. Do we have to buy new license key or sas can provide new soe to use to install sas on new OS machine, we shut down old server and continue working on new one?

This information would help you to understand how SAS licensing works:

1. Are you going to change the version of the OS (for e.g. RHEL 6 to 7, Windows Server 2012 to 2019, etc.) OR planning to change the whole platform (for e.g. Windows to UNIX or vice-versa)?
   You've to buy or change your current license if your OS platform changes, SAS Windows OS license files don't work on the SAS UNIX OS Platform or vice-versa.
2. Generally, you do not have to buy a new license if you're going to migrate to the new machine with the same specs and same OS platform (such as the number of CPUs, memory, etc.); However, checking with the SAS' Account Manager would be highly preferable in order to avoid any confusion.
3. In a few cases (depending on what SAS application you've), you've to modify your license if your specs change despite you are migrating to the same OS platform.
