Hi.I have a problem when installing SAS.

Which kind of deployment plans should I choose between customized deployment plan and standard deployment plan? My company bought a list of the software, but I don't find a customized deployment plan(XML).If choosing the standard deployment plan,I could't install the whole software in list on my server. So is there a customized deployment plan giving me?Or that plan will not be given to the customized?

Thank you so much.

as Juan suggested, if you are not sure how plan files work or what needs to be installed, just speak to your SAS Account Manager to create a plan file for your order, you do not want to end up installing SAS software based on a standard plan file and "NOT" install your other software components that is included in your software order.

Having a plan file make upgrades and migration easier going forward.

Just contact SAS Support to provide you with your SAS Account Manager details if you are not sure who he/she is.

What does your SAS software order say? Does it say "Basic" or "Planning". Basic is usually for simple single machine installs and Planning is for more complex multiple machine installs.

Normally you install in the order: metadata servers, application servers, mid-tier servers. I'm mystified why you are starting out with the AppDev Studio plan which is primarily a mid-tier install.

You need to provide more info on how many physical servers you are installing on, and how many, and what type of SAS servers you are installing. This should be clear from your pre-installation planning work.

This is or order and I installed the Enterprise Guide (two machine). There is no mid-tier servers.

SAS Software Summary for Order 99V9G2

The following is a list of the software that comprises your order. Unlike the SAS Order Information sheet, which only lists the software you have specifically ordered, this document also describes the included software that supports your order. If you have located this document without first consulting your Software Order E-mail, please find that e-mail and follow the procedure described there for installing your software.

The Java Runtime Environments (JREs) included in your order are part of this order summary. If there is more than one JRE listed, it is because you have client and/or middle tier software that may be installed on more than one host. The SAS Deployment Wizard will help you determine which JRE needs to be installed for your software order.

I found there were no Operating System Services Scheduling Server 9.4 and SAS DATA Step Batch Server 9.4 if I chose the Enterprise Guide(two machines),But they are listed in the order.

I also found that my software order say like following picture:

GT]2RG@DRA@{O)J76XS5ZP0.png

it is not a basic one.So is there a customized deployment plan(XML) ?

jackhost, good observations.

SAS provides some standard deployment plans, in your software depot and/or the support.sas.com page. As not all the deployments are standard, you can:

- Create your own plan (plan.xml): if your are not used to it, I would not advise this option.

- Ask SAS/SAS Consultant to create a plan for you, according to your requirements. (probably the best option)

- You can also install individual software, after your initial and standard deployment, as the SAS PC Files Server...  but I think this would not configure some components, as the

Operating System Services Scheduling Server 9.4 and SAS DATA Step Batch Server 9.4.

- But you can configure by yourself those servers from the SAS Management Console, after your installation and initial configuration.

Yeah.I have contacted to the local SAS supporter. Now,I'm waiting for response.Thank you all the same.

An Enterprise Guide install is for client components only. You should start with your server install first. What SAS licences were you sent? There should be a separate licence for every server you are installing on.

For example if you are installing SAS BI Server on one physical server you could use a standard deployment plan for that.

For your 3/  Operating schedulers and batch servers are not part of the installation-installation but part of the installation-configuration.

They only are creating some os-scripts wiht a log of config-files to run sas processes. There is no dedicated code/loadables for that.

For your 2/ You have a midtier (environment manager) may be even Eminer (scoring is mentioned) although Im not seeing the realted others of that. As there is JMP it could be the miner setup as that is bundled with that.  Eminer is using the midtier RMI connection.

For your 4/ There are a lot of standard deployment plans. SAS Downloads: 9.4 Standard Deployment Plans

The desktop is one machine installing on a server too is having two machines. opening up the checklist description will show that information.

Some other methods of counting are also done, very confusing using different number of tiers as indication for the same layout.

I guess a Standard plan (yep which one miner? bi-server?) would do in your case. When not a SAS support guy should deliver an adjusted one for your situation.

Just being amazed that this information is not given to you as all is or should be part of the deal/contract.

I have already checked the whole files but not found the adjusted plan what you said.So I try to deploy as Enterprise Guide.I have contacted the local SAS supporter but no message received.Smiley Sad
