Hi @MG18,

changing encoding to UTF-8 would enable reading and printing additional sets of characters.

However, all your data procesing (jobs. ETLs, etc) should be adapted as well. Perhaps even transcoding.

I would like to recommend you to read this great document http://support.sas.com/resources/papers/Multilingual_Computing_with_SAS_94.pdf

Good food for thoughts.

And, besides this, what kind of errors are you getting, and with what operations?

Dear @JuanS_OCS

Really sorry for this but i forgot to mention I am using SAS 9.3 not the SAS 9.4.

If you have any link regarding this request you to provide the same.

Hello @MG18,

for what you want to achieve, there should not be much difference.

Anyways, this is what is available for 9.3: http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/lrcon/65287/HTML/default/viewer.htm#titlepage.htm

@JuanS_OCS

Hi ,

I have checked your reply for some another question regarding encoding option and I have few question regarding below option :-

- Can this be achieved with out doing system wide change?

The best option is to create an additional and separated SASApp server, to be set as utf8, and let only the required processes and users to use it. Or just use the libname statements.

1) How can we achieve this in SAS9.3 ? is there any specific link for this ? i just came to this link https://support.sas.com/resources/papers/AddingAdditionalSASWorkspaceServerstoSupportMultipleEncodin... and request you to have a look into this link and tell me can i proceed with changes ?

2) How can we revert the changes if above option didn't work ?

how can we take back up of existing system or taking meta data back through SMD is sufficient for this also?

Hi there @MG18,

I was on holidays and now back again.

I think I could answer your questions in the other post 🙂
