Hi, thanks for your reply.   I do not want to export to sas as every change to project would mean redeploying the .sas.   Also, as ever, the devil is in the details... the infile statement in the generated code is something like this   "INFILE 'W:\EGWORK\_TD4884_SRV01_\#LN00007' ..... " As you can see it does not reference the excel file by name directly. The generated code header comment also states   /* Note: In preparation for running the following code, the Import Data wizard has used internal routines to transfer the source data file from the local file system to SASApp. There is no SAS code available to represent this action. */ Which says exactly that the code will not run "as is" if not called from within EG.   I have a long experience with SAS in all flavours, so I could easily find workarounds to the problem, like the one you mention in your reply, but I'd like to do things exactly as stated in my the use case of my original question. Hi   Case scenario:   I create a simple SAS EG project with one flow. I am importing an excel file called "myfile_201710.xslx" and saving it into a dataset called "sasdata.myimporteddata_201710.xlsx". I then scedule my egp and all is fine. The following month I want to be able to run the same project, but using myfile_201711.xslx to create sasdata.myimporteddata_201711.xlsx.   I need to parametrize the date part of the file name and have the same project run every month without changing the project itself. In SAS Base I would simply create a macro with the date and use it as part of the name (ie myfile_&yyyymm..xslx), but in SAS EG I can't find a way to parametrize the input file name.   The excel file is on my windows local machine and the SAS App server is on a Win Server.   Thanks ... Hi, I am testing the filename socket access type with the aim of transferring binary files between two SAS sessions, i.e. send a binary file from the client session, the server session should receive the file and make a copy on the server where it runs. The binary file to be transferred can have any length. I have found many examples that show how to send an ASCII file and how to transfer a SAS Dataset by serializing on the client and deserializing the data on the server, but the behaviour I am after would be similar to that of an ftp client sending a file to an ftp server. What I am looking for is something like the code below which would work for any file. On the server (i.e. on machine "server.com"): filename srv socket ":5100" server; data _null_; infile srv; input; file "/srvpath/myCopiedBinaryFile.bin"; put _infile_; run; On the client filename client socket "server.com:5100"; data _null_; infile "/clipath/myOriginalBinaryFile.bin"; input; /*The input here should ideally read the whole file*/ file client; put _infile_; run; There a options for file type (A or B) and fixed length, streaming and others, but I have not managed to make it work, I don't even know if it is at all possible. Problem configuring clustered Metadata server

Hi, I am trying to configure a clustered metadata server on 4 nodes. I configure the first node (on machine sasmeta01) as a standard metadata server without any problems. I the configure the second metadata server (on machine sasmeta02) as a "Metadata Server Node" from the plan without any problems, the backup is in the shared file system, if I connect to the MS with SAS MC I can see the 2 nodes and I can validate them without issues. The problems start when I try to configure the 3rd node (on machine sasmeta03), the deployment wizard fails with the following error in the log /sas/SASHome/SASFoundation/9.4/misc/base/sasconf/metadatasrv/config/metadatasrv_config.xml:814: ERROR:  Backup of metadata server cluster node sasmeta01 failed. But if I look in the file system the backup is actually there and it is also visible in the management console as available for restore. I have unconfigured everything, I then configured sasmeta03 as the second node and now the configuration fails if I try to use sasmeta02 as the third node. But sasmeta02 was working ok before. For the sake of it I have deleted again all configurations and tried with sasmeta04 as the second node without errors and sasmeta02 as the third node, same error again. It looks like the configuration process is not happy about a third node, regardless of the machine. Os is RHEL 6.6 64 on all machines. Can anybody help? Thank You ... View more

Hi David, that did the trick. I also added the machine names in the plan, which I think helped. I had to do a couple of manual steps while configuring the mid-tier machine as the deployment manager was trying to restart the web server using the installer id, but this was not possible as it is configured to use port 80 (only root can stop/start processes that use port below 1024). Hi, I have created a plan for VA 7.1 in distributed mode with the the following topology: Machine 1: SAS Metadata Server and SAS Servers, this machine is also the Hadoop NameNode and HPAE root node Machine 2: SAS Mid-Tier WITHOUT SAS Web Server (i.e. only the SAS Web Application Server and the Environment Manager Server) Machine 3: SAS Web Server and Environment Manager Agent I need to implement this topology because machines 1 and 2 are not accessible from "outside" but machine 3 is. SAS Web Server should be configured as reverse proxy to the mid-tier machine. The problem is that the Deployment Manager does not seem to configure automatically the Web Server (ie the Web/WebServer/conf/sas.conf file) for reverse proxy to the mid-tier, I managed to partially configure it manually, but with odd loose end that does not make the deployment satisfactory. Everything is configured automatically if the Web Server is on the same machine ad the Web App Server. I also tried configuring both the Web Server and Web App Server on Machine 2 (chiech works fine) and then install and configure a third party web server on machine 3, this does not work with because the authentication process (j_spring_cas_security_check) fails due to the fact that the originating (machine 3) and target machines (machine 2) are different. So I am wondering, has anyone done this properly? How? Manually or automatically via the Deployment Manager? Using a 3rd party web server? SAS documentation only touches on this subject saying it can be done via a plan, but without giving any further information. Hi My certificate is signed by Thwate, ie an "official" certificates provider, this means the root and intermediate certificates are already installed on the system (in my case RHEL) when you install openSSL so I pointed SAS to the certificate bundle that comes with openSSL. To confirm the correct location of the certicates bundle, on your system type [root@srvname certs]# openssl version -d OPENSSLDIR: "/etc/pki/tls" [root@srvname certs]# pwd /etc/pki/tls/certs [root@srvname certs]# ls -l total 1768 -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 786601 Jun 24 11:22 ca-bundle.crt -rw-r--r--. 1root root 1005005 Jun 24 11:22 ca-bundle.trust.crt .... then in SAS cfg file /sas/SASHome/SASFoundation/9.4/sasv9_local.cfg add the following line -sslcalistloc /etc/pki/tls/certs/ca-bundle.trust.crt and that's it. Note that you can add the sslcalistloc in other cfg files, I added it to the foundation cfg file because that way it's picked up by all SAS processes, regardless of their class (ie workspace, stp server, olap and so on). SAS documentation is not very clear and I find it misleading in cases like this where the certificate is not self-signed. Hope this helps, regards ... View more

Hi, I followed the first part of the article to enable autoload and definition of the table AUDIT_VISUALANALYTICS, I could see the dataset in the "LASR Tables" tab, but it did not load. I checked the autoload logs and I had the following errors: ERROR: LASR Auto Load directory MISSING does not exist. ERROR: LASR Auto Load directory MISSING/Logs does not exist. ERROR: LASR Auto Load directory MISSING/Append does not exist. ERROR: LASR Auto Load directory MISSING/Unload does not exist. ERROR: LASR Auto Load directory validation failed. ERROR: Ensure that connection to metadata server is configured properly ERROR: and that the proper autoload folder structure exists. The problem was generated because the macro "MetadataExtensionValue", defined in file "/sas/SASHome/SASVisualAnalyticsHighPerformanceConfiguration/7.1/Config/Deployment/Code/AutoLoad/include/MetadataExtensions.sas" tries to read the extended attributes of the LASR Library "Environment Manager Data Mart LASR" without the options metauser and metapass set. In particular it tries to read the value extended property "VA.AutoLoad.Location" whose value was returned as "MISSING", hence the "MISSING" string in the log. To fix the problem I set options metauser="lasradm"         metapass="xxxxxx"   ; in the program "/sas/config/keinavo/Lev1/Applications/SASVisualAnalytics/VisualAnalyticsAdministrator/EVDMLA/AutoLoad.sas" and this fixed the problem, the dataset is now autoloaded and refreshed regularly. "lasradm" is a special user I use to start and stop LASR servers as well as loading/unloading tables. I had to give lasradm RM credentials to the library "/Shared Data/SAS Visual Analytics/Autoload/EVDMLA/Environment Manager Data Mart LASR" in metadata. Hi, I have installed VA 7.1 SMP, the mid tier is configured to use HTTPS, we use a certificate signed by Thwate. I am having a problem when trying to start the LASR Server, I get the following error: ERROR: Unable to register LASR server with authentication service. I have setup the SSLCALISTLOC option for the SAS Workspace to correctly point to the pem certificate used by the SAS Web Server but I end up with the same error, I have also created a certficate with all the certificates in the CA path and again I get the same error. SAS Tech Support have suggested to change the protocol to HTTP for just the SASLASRAuthorization endpoint, which I have done. I have changed the LASR Auth service definition in the Metadata and also added a RewriteRule to the Web Server configuration so that all services but SASLASRAuthorization are redirected to HTTPS if called with HTTP.
