Hi All, Any help would be appreciated. I have a dataset which I have recieved from someone. I donot want to open it and dont know how many columns it have, I want to replace missing values with 0 in each column in it. Thanks in advance

Hi Tushar, There are some files by the name VSLIB and VSTABLE in the library SASHELP. Infact, the time when we open a file a tempfile is created in these tables with the names and other credentials of the table. Please Note that WORK Library's files are hard to find the path of. This method works for any file apart from WORK Library files. So If we know the name of the table opened we can find the path of it, using the following queries:- %LET Data_Name=DATA_name; proc sql noprint; select path||"\"||"&Data_name" into :path from SAShelp.Vslib where libname in ( select distinct libname from sashelp.vstable where memname="&Data_Name"); quit; %put path= &path; This Marco variable "path" formed can be used. We can try index or find but in huge datasets try not using If condition instead use where for faster application as in the following code;- proc sql; create table col_data as select memname from sashelp.vtable ;quit; data final; set Col_data; where index(upcase(memname),upcase("attribute"))>0; run; Thanks

Nice solution OS, I would like to add that Merge is much faster than SQL but even I prefer SQL because its simpler and more dependable but an inner join instead of this join would have been faster however both will give the same answer Thanks Njoi

This is a new function for me Coalasce for numeric and coalescec for string. Read articles realted to it on google and to be frank this is a very helpful function for me......Thanks guys

Hi Dmorrell, I think use SASHELP to the maximum instead of using these heavy codes. Once you import Excel file into sas then use SASHELP tables namely Dictionary.tables or sashelp.VTable to obtain every information about every element in the datasets present or user created. Thanks
