Believe it or not, you can get exactly that code using the EG visual tools. Use the Describe | Summary Statistics task. Put the variable for "Acct Number" into Classification Variables, and the variable for "Value" into Analysis Variables. On the Statistics | Basic tab, click Sum, and unclick the others. On Results, you have a few choices. Try playing around with "Show Statistics", which will create the output in a report format, and "Save statistics to a data set", which will do exactly that. Barry; When I run a query in SAS E.G. I can choose my Library only to place the ourput data set (let's call it data set 1); consequently, all the data sub sets I run are placed under web Library. When I open in Excel Office Analytics I have to hunt through the web Library other data set files to find what I want. The best long term approach for this is to create a SAS format.  In EG there are two ways to create formats (actually, three ways if you don't mind writing code). The two tasks are: - Tasks->Data->Create Format - Tasks->Data->Create Format from Data Set They are both straightforward to use, but I like the second one if you have lots of values to map.  It might be easier to enter the values in a data set or read them in from an Excel spreadsheet (perhaps you already have them in that form). You can avoid the issue of having to register tables in metadata for them to be available in EG by taking the following steps when creating Data Libraries in SAS Management Console: 1) Pre-assign the data libraries in the Advanced Options of the Options tab. 2) Again in SMC Data Library properties, go to the Extended Attributes tab and add a field name called AssignMode with a value of 2. You need to talk to whoever developed the data, its not coming in to Excel properly. They need to make sure it comes in as a date format that Excel can recognize. You could calculate a date from that if you wanted in a new column, but that isn't an efficient solution IMO. In SAS world, 4198 corresponds to 30Jun1971 does that make sense for your data? ... Another possibility is the data that you are reporting on has no obvservations. In that case the reporting procedure will produce no output.
