Thanks Juan & Andrew. Andrew, As we have users who uses both Eguide & Eminer, I would like to go the SAS Grid options way. Could you explain it little more clearly "f you do wish to manage this with Grid Options Sets (assuming both share the one SAS Application Context, create 2 queues (using SAS RTM) - one default (used by EM), the other designed to use EG. Set one as the default queue in the Logical Grid Server, and set up an alternate Grid Options Sets for users of the EG client." What do you mean by "assuming both share the one SAS App Context."?

Hi, Our SAS Grid environment is configured with SASApp & SASEM logical Workspace server context. How do I prevent the e-guide users from selecting the "SASEM Logical Workspace server" context in the eguide? What kind of Grid option set changes do I need to implement in the SMC? Also I would like to prevent the e-miner users from selecting the "SASAPP Logical Workspace server" context too. Please let us know the settings Thnx

Margaret, Thanks. what are the list of services (sas,lim...etc ? )that we need to monitor? Where can I get the complete list? Inorder to monitor using third party tools, do we need to setup these process/servers as daemons in the init.d/systemd ? Thanks

Margaret, Thanks. I do aware of the SAS EVM. Apart from using EVM, I want to use our monitoring tools too. For ex: On a Windows SAS Grid environment, we can create and configure alerts to monitor the various sas services by using monitoring tools (like Tivoli/scom) to check the status of the services in the service manager. Is there any way I can do for the SAS Linux Grid environment? something like Running servers as unix daemons? Not sure if this is a good idea or not.

Hi, We have SAS Grid installed on the RHEL linux servers and like to setup some monitors on the linux server to ensure that all the required SAS Services/process on the Compute nodes, metadata servers and Mid-tier are up and running. Could someone provide me the list of sas services/Process that we need to monitor on the linux server. Do we need to monitor any ports too? Thanks

I'm trying to create a random dataset with 1000 observations and 3 variables(Employee_id, sex, age). I want the employee_id to be in the range (5213 to 9899), sex (as male,female or unknown) and age in between 25 to 75. Is there any function/sas proc thru which i can achieve this? I want the employee id to be random rather than consecutive.Thanks for help

can any one help me to write a program which can go to infinite loop and use's cpu to the maximum extent. I'm able to write a program for infinite loop but not able to max cpu utilisation. I'm testing our new sas installations.

I'm running the below code on sas 9.3 and encountering error message Please let me know how to trouble shoot it libname abc "xyz\abc\sample"; proc sort data = abc.accinfo out = accinfo_accts; by acct_no key_id; run; Error:Expecting page 5172, got page -1 instead Error: Page validation error while reading abc.accinfo Error: File abc.accinfo.data is damaged.I/O Processing did not complete. Note: The sas system stopped processing this step because of errors Note: There was 134234343 observations read from the data set abc.accinfo Warning: The data set work.accinfo_accts may be incomplete. When this step was stopped there were 134234343 observations and 20 variables

I'm using sas 9.2 on windows server(64 bit) with sas/access to pcfiles Here are the error messages I'm encountering: libname test excel "test1.xlsx"; Error: The Excel Engine cannot be found Error: Error in the libname statement; so I tried doing this. libname test pcfiles "test1.xlsx"; Error: Incorrect syntax for the libname statement. This engine doesnt accept a physical name. Error: Error in the libname statement

I'm trying to read a xlsx file using the libname statement. here is the sample code: " libname test1 PCFILES type=excel server = 'servername' port = 8261 path = "c:/test/dfsaa.xlsx"; I did run the proc setinit; It showed sas/access to pc files. BUt I'm still encountering the error message. plz help me on this
