@MiguelMaldonado Would you be able to provide any insight into expected processing time for datasets of 22.7 million rows with non HP nodes? As well, I've managed to get the reporter node to create PDF's now (not sure how, just started working) but it only displays a small segment of the tree. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this?

@Jaap Unfortunately due to a combination of being a summer student and the IT red tape of where I'm working, I doubt I'll be able to get the upgrade sorted in time. Do you know what dataset size I should attempt to stay within?

@MiguelMaldonado When you say HPCluster node, are you referring to a node separate to the Cluster node? Or is it the Cluster node with specific settings for HPDM? How do I use or access HPDM nodes? I haven't seen any reference to them in EM or elsewhere, are they an addon? Regarding the reporter node, it encounters an error (sys error 20002) whenever I try to generate the report. Any idea on the cause of this? Thanks for your help! @Reeza I'll let you know what I find out regarding the datasize ----Edit---- @Jaap and @MiguelMaldonado I apologize, I missed that the HP nodes are for 12.3 and higher. I'm running 12.1 unfortunately, so I guess I'm unable to make use of them. Are the normal nodes still suited to handling datasets of this size?

Hi All, I've recently been trying to run Enterprise Miner on some data to create some models. The data I am trying to work with will hopefully be combined with other data in the future when I create the final model(s). However, I've been attempting to run the default cluster node on the data set, and it's ran for more than a day so far and doesn't show any sign of finishing soon. The data set is ~22.7 million rows, is this time expected for a data set of this size? Idealy this isn't all the data either, but currently the process is currently prohibitively long for my use, nevermind using the complete data set. On that note I took a subset of the full data (~117k rows) to play around with, creating some decision trees. I tried to view the actual tree that the model comparison selected as the best, but the tree seems to be too large for EM to handle well, as trying to view any form of the results takes 10+ min to update. Is it possible to export the results as text, pdf or picture to view in another program? Thanks!

Hi @MiguelMaldonado, The plan is to predict the customers monthly behaviour at a certain account age. The predicted target will either be interval or continuous I haven't decided yet. As for the model, if I'm understanding your question correctly, I'll be using a single step model. The plan is to use a decision tree model, and then preform a logistic regression to help explain the model better. Thanks, Adam

Hi All, I've been tasked with creating a customer life cycle model in EM. Our customers have certain "constant" features (which country they live in, what language they speak, etc.) and then monthly data related to their use of the account. I was wondering how will EM deal with the combination of the two data "types" (I feel like there's a better word for this but cannot think of it), that is, will having data which isn't monthly repeated monthly skew the model in any way? I've read a few books on using EM and done some googling but I can't find an answer to this. As a related question, I am planning to join all the data into a single table (in EG) and then bring it into EM. Would it be better to bring the constant and monthly tables in to EM and merge them there (using the merge node)? Should I merge them at all? I know that the decision tree node can take multiple nodes as input but again I haven't been able to find any information on how it deals with having multiple nodes as input. Thanks in advanced for your help! Let me know if there's more information I should provide or anything.

It's seeming like I'm the limiting feature here as I have trouble interpreting the output for the cluster node as well. Would the interpretation of the output from the cluster node be considered something a data analyst would understand out of the box? I.e. is there some standard of terminology SAS is adhering to here? Thank you!

Thank you for your reply! Unfortunately, the article doesn't explain *what* the Segment Profile nodes results mean. It may just be that I'm unfamiliar with data analysis, but information about things like "Petal width" or "Som Dimension2" doesn't really mean anything to me. I've found that most tutorials or explanations of EM simply show you how to perform a specific task without providing the information of why. Again though, it's very possible that I just am lacking the knowledge needed to make use of the tool.

Hi All, I'm working on a creating a predictive model, and would like to explore the data (there's a LOT of it) before starting the actual modeling work. I went through one of the EM courses (Applied Analytics Using SAS Enterprise Miner) but found it didn't explain the interpretation of the SOM/Kohonen node. This may just be because I'm new to EM and data analysis, and if so I'd appreciate if someone could point me in the direction of a resource to learn how to interpret SOM/Kohonen maps, but from my searching and reading (a few textbooks recommended for neural networks) I'm still unsure of the meaning of the nodes output. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

I defined the ODBC data source locally, and I'm connecting to a SAS unix server, so I guess that is the problem. On the unix server would I be able to define the ODBC.ini file in a local dir or is it something that is system wide? I believe I'm using SAS 9.3 but I'm not 100% sure as to how the software was installed on my computer.

I'm attempting to connect SAS EG 5.1 to a MS SQL server db, and from what I've seen online, I should create an ODBC data source for the database (done successfully), then in SAS, connect to it using the libname statement. My problem is, when I try to connect via the libname statement in SAS I get the following error: " ERROR: CLI error trying to establish connection: [DataDirect][ODBC lib] Data source name not found and no default driver specified ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement. " My statement is: LIBNAME SQL ODBC DSN='db1' ; Which according to other people should work (db1 is the name of my odbc data source). Does anybody know what is going wrong and how I might fix it? Thanks!
