So I'm hammering all kinds of different approaches together because I'm not skilled enough and bc I thought that's how people do it (maybe too much of 'package' think). Thank you again! I've searched and played around with various potential formatting issues for a good amount of time only to realize that the issue was that the variable to be merged had the same name in the tables created with prior code while the datalines tables did not. UGH! I had assumed that I only need to tell SAS I want to merge BY var1 and var2 and then it would just put the other variables side-by-side. Instead, it just overwrote the tables.
