An even better solution is to set up your SAS program so it either defaults to the system date, or reads in a job run date as an environment variable (see the SAS SYSGET function for details of how to do this). That way no code change is required to run your program for a different date, just specify it in the environment variable.

Unlike most procedues, we specify a three level name in the Outlib Option to FCMP. The three levels consist of a libname, a data set name and a package name. A package is the structure that the function is saved and retrieved to/from. A data set can contain multiple packages and a package can contain multiple functions. Hope this makes sense 🙂

OK, we can discount MEMSIZE as a possible cause. There has been a vast amount of development in the ODS space between 9.2 and 9.4 so it's not altogether surprising that a large ODS report has problems in 9.2 but not in 9.4. In my experience ODS is very resource hungry, so I tend to avoid it for very large outputs.

Hi Astounding, But it is not always that first 4 records will have address. There is a case where address is only one record i.e. addr1 has entire data and addr2 thru addr6 should be space. There is a case where address is in 6 records i.e. addr1 thru addr6 has value [complete address]. Best Regards,

Why do you have a FORMAT Statement in this DATA _NULL_ step that is just assigning generic $ formats to variables? Perhaps you meant to use a LENGTH statement? But even then for this data step since you are not modifying the data why would you need to change the length from what it has on input data set.

Hi All, I am having issue when writing the data into mainframe file. when I print DATA01, I see no issues. but when I write to output file I get completely different data (not as expected). The record length is approximately 1200. can someone please help me.
