Hi All, Forgive me for asking such a naive question , but I have got this project on urgent basis and I have no background of stats so for me it is really difficult. background - I am working on an insurance data (workers compensation) . I have 10 yrs of history data with details like employe name , age , department , injury type , amount_dibursed etc. Now looking into this data I need to predict future trend that how much amount it would be needed if we face same type of injury in future . Now I have done all the missing value computation .(Thank God) and now need to create test and validation data . I am thinking of 75 : 25 data . Can you please suggest me how to randomly select the data that would best suit me in SAS. Please do let me know if yuo need more info. Thanks, Anupam

Thanks Reeza for your reply , but my problem is not related to limit the data. I will give you example . Now suppose In case of the sample data I am using, the lowest claim is $968, but in case of fitted Normal Distribution (using PROC UNIVARIATE), the 1 st , 5 th and 10 th percentile are coming out to be negative. Let say, had we limited the lower tail of distribution to $100, all these percentiles would been more than $100. There should be option for similar upper limit too. Please do let me know if this helps. Thanks

Hi All, I am facing a difficulty in limiting the distributions obtained by PROC UNIVARIATE i.e. I want to have an option to set lower and upper limits within which the losses for each percentile (for each distribution) fall. Can anyone please suggest something on the same. Thanks

Thanks Reeza , This was really helpful and solved my problem. Adding to that I needed to have additional quantiles in my dataset suppose if we need more quantiles other than default 9 in our dataset . For eg p1, p5, p10 , p25, p50, p60, p70, p80 , p90 , p95 , p98, p99 This can be achieved by the following statement. histogram / weibull (percents = 1 5 10 25 50 60 70 80 90 95 98 99 midpercents ) Gamma (percents = 1 5 10 25 50 60 70 80 90 95 98 99 midpercents ) ……. Hi, I am trying to store lognormal quantile distribution in proc univariate in a dataset. Suppose my output is : Quantiles for Lognormal Distribution Quantile Percent Observed Estimated 1.0 0.23100 0.17449 5.0 0.24700 0.24526 10.0 0.29450 0.29407 25.0 0.37800 0.39825 50.0 0.53150 0.55780 75.0 0.74600 0.78129 90.0 1.10050 1.05807 95.0 1.54700 1.26862 99.0 1.74100 1.78313 Now I need both Observed and Estimated value in SAS dataset. Can anyone guide me what "output out" statement or "ods" statement I should use? Help is appreciated. Thanks, Anupam
