Thank you Reeza! I could not find any documentation on what --- select "||compress(dataset)||" does or how it works. I am only aware of pipe character for concatenation. Would you be able to provide any more info on how "||compress(dataset)||" reads as DM; SC etc?

Hello, I have a dataset ds22 which lists the datasets that need to be copied over: data ds22; dataset="DM"; output; dataset="SC"; output; run; The syntax used to copy them from f_ to o_ is: data chk_; set ds22; call execute("proc copy in= f_ out=o_; select "||compress(dataset)||"; run;"); run; Can someone help me understand how ||compress(dataset)|| works here to read the datasets called in ds22 individually?

Thanks ballardw, I added the ID variable in my dataset too for country code and I could generate the map. However, what I was looking for is drilling down to specific location within the country. Using country code as ID, it helps in showing the data for country but not for specific location within the country. Hence, I was using ID variable as LONG. Is it possible to drill down to specific location within country?

Thanks Reeza! So when I tried to map the co-ordinates I have using proc gmap and using Mapsgft.world and id variable as LONG, LAT nothing showed up, not even the world map. Hence I started to wonder if they have to match the co-ordinates exactly. I have not used proc sgmap.

Hello! I am trying to use sas mapsgfk.world dataset. I have a separate dataset where latitudes and longitudes are collected in decimal degrees. Mapsgft.world has LONG, LAT, X and Y variables. The values in LONG, LAT doesn't match entirely with the dataset I have. Ex: From within united states, I have co-ordinates longitude: -164.7520065 and latitude:64.4912815 in my dataset however, this does not match any latitude longitude co-ordinates from mapsgfk.world so I can use these as id variables in proc gmap. Any thoughts please?

thanks @ballardw I was fixing a lengthy existing program where I came across using input function throughout the program in this way and noticed the conversion and that the values did not look right. I am assuming it was used to display it in 4.1 format using input function and numeric to numeric conversion. But I was not clear as why it did not work. Now, I get it. It was looking for a character value and thus, the automatic conversion occurred.

Hello, Below is the program. When I apply format to max it works perfectly as expected, but I was trying to use input statement and the results did not look right at all. One of my colleagues also suggested I can re-write it as max1= input(put((n1/n2),4.1),best.); but I still did not understand why input is converting numeric values to character in the first place. @Kurt_Bremser It should start the first time the rolling window is filled with 5 values. Ex: Roll1to5 8.9 Roll2to6 11.2 Roll3to6 ......etc.

@Kurt_Bremser @Tom thank you for your help! I am trying to learn how to use %if %then. Looks like the same can be achieved using if - then and macro variables. I could not find much documentation on %if %then in the advanced SAS certification prep guide for different scenarios to use %if %then. Could you by any chance point me in the right direction?

@ballardw, what's making me curious is why %scan(&name,2) doesn't require quotes around the name like- %scan("&name",2) just like a regular scan function would require and while in a case such as where sex = "&S"; it requires quotes around the macro variable.
