Michelle, thanks for asking about plans for this capability to support data driven hyperlinks in tables in a future VA release. I spent some time with R&D to find out if there is a workaround today, and I apologize for the delay. Lucy, if I understand correctly, you need a way to have complete URLs based on a column in your source table that will navigate report consumers to those URLs when clicked. There is no reliable workaround for this in VA 7.1. SAS plans to include this in a future release – however, it will not be in the imminent 7.2 release. As you likely know, VA 6.2 and higher support external links via URL from report objects. The capability currently is designed where a portion of the URL must be static, such as http://www.twiter.com, and the final portion of the URL can be data driven. The first part of the URL is provided by the report author and it is required. For instance, you could simply enter www or http://www. Note that the OK button in the Edit External Link window will be enabled if you simply enter http://, but the resulting link will not work reliable for all supported browsers and after saving the report multiple times. Here is a link to the relevant section in the VA 7.1 User’s Guide Lucy, as you pointed out, the sample report based on the Ebola data displays a URL in the list table on the Data Quality / Check section that appears clickable. I looked at that particular report in the report designer and I noticed that the author created a display rule for that column that essentially makes the text blue and underlined if the text contains http://. This display rule makes it appear as if it would navigate to the URL displayed but alas, it doesn’t. Again, SAS does intend to add full support for this in a future release. Thanks, Rick Styll
