As far as I know, this behavior is inherited from SAS 9.2 and I believe this results from the way the association lists in SAS metadata are managed for the association cardinality between SAS groups and SAS users they contain..   I also believe that this behavior was maintained in SAS 9.4 for legacy-compatibility reasons - for example, some customer-written log parser programs might already been created with this behavior in mind, so changing the behavior might impact backward-compatibility.   So, in a nutshell, I do not believe there is a way to avoid the side-effect you have mentioned.   Hope this helps.     ... As contributors said before, there is no stand-alone installer for SAS Management Console. You may want to try the following procedure: 1. Make the SAS depot accessible to your workstation, either by copying it or by using a shared folder. 2. As a local administrator on the workstation, execute, from SAS depot directory, setup.exe. 3. Choose the language, or accept English by default. 4. In "Select Deployment Task" window, choose "Install SAS Software" and click Next.  Note: at this point, if (a) you already have some SAS software already deployed on the workstation and (b) the SAS version of the depot is newer than the SAS version deployed, then SAS Deployment Wizard will ask you to update the existing SAS software deployed. You should allow updating and, when this process finishes, the SAS Deployment Wizard will close. You should launch it again at shown at point 2 above. 5. In "Select Deployment Type" window, choose "Install SAS Foundation and Related Software" and click Next. 6. In "Select Products to Install" window, do the following: a. In "Products to Install" dropbox select "Clients Only" b. Be sure that "SAS Management Console" checkbox is selected. You may want to un-check clients you do not need. Something like: 7. Click Next 8. In "Specify SAS Installation Data File" window, specify the SID file (it is OK to have the Linux SID) or leave the default selection. 9. If talking about SAS 9.4, then it comes with its own SAS Web Server. Accordingly with "Usage Note 61334: HTTP request methods that are used by SAS® software" (http://support.sas.com/kb/61/334.html) you should not disable DELETE method in SAS Web Server.   You have mentioned IIS, If IIS is completely separated and used for anything else than SAS, then the modification in IIS should be harmless to SAS web applications.   However, if the case is that you use IIS as a reverse proxy server (for example following the steps in https://go.documentation.sas.com/?docsetId=bimtag&docsetTarget=p0sxhuco18v167n13dsmnrfqv7yy.htm&docsetVersion=9.4&locale=en) , then IIS will pass to SAS the requests, which leads me to the conclusion that disabling DELETE method at IIS level may impact the SAS web applications, ...
