Thank you @ballardw !! Hmm...both Steves have ID = 3  and all the other fields are the same except the Salary field. Perhaps this was not a great example and I was just trying to explain that all I'm really trying to do is take Steve's Salary value from Table2 and assign it to Steve's Salary value in Table1. There cannot be another Steve Gordon with different ID or anything like that.   If this was SQL Server he TSQL code below would have taken care of what I need and it would have finished in seconds:   UPDATE T1 SET    T1.Salary= T2.Salary FROM   Table1 T1 INNER JOIN Table2 T2 ON T1.ID= T2.ID   So I'm just shocked that such a simple thing cannot be achieved in SAS without having to write lines of code and/or running it for hours. @ballardw  I just created a small csv file with only 5-6 columns (comment field included) in it and 2 records, both of which are giving me trouble. I was going to send it to you but before I did I tested it running through the slimmed-down code (removed all the other columns) and added TERMSTR=CLRF option....and it worked fine! So, if I add the TERMSTR option to the original code and run it through all the records and all the columns I get no records returned but when I run it against the newly created sample file with only a couple of rows and few columns it works just fine. I get no errors, no warnings but for some reason it just doesn't return any records when I use TERMSTR=CLRF... ... View more

If the variable loaded is not in your master table you would then throw an error so that you knew that something went wrong and you would check the process to ensure it's correctly done. When I was in BI, we had a master table of jobs that a scheduler used to run the jobs, but at the end of each job, it would enter a record into a table that would let us know if it loaded successfully or not and then we could always refer to that to verify a load. But we had a very rigorous process with our data due to data audits - always fun to have an accountant auditor watching you run the code. ... View more

Thank you @Astounding and @Reeza ! You might be right, Astounding, transpose did complicate it but I need to replicate an existing report and so I don't have much say in how it's displayed. Also, that last column was requested after I thought I had everything done, the way I wanted it. I still think the biggest problem is the names of columns that are dynamically assigned so cannot be hardcoded. I'll try to do it the way you suggested, Reeza. It makes perfect sense but, like I said, I'm new to SAS so hopefully I can figure it out.
