You didn't say whether the times you quoted were elapsed or CPU times. Given the differences I would suspect that they were elapsed times, for the following reasons: * Your PC has 2 processors running a single job, whereas your server has 6 processors running 20 concurrent jobs. * Your PC has 1Gb memory used by 1 job, whereas your server has 12Gb shared between 20 concurrent jobs. * Your PC has locally attached disk space, whereas your server may have networked disk space. * Finally, if you are measuring the time from submission to receipt of the final output, particularly if the outputs are large, then EG (and any other network-connected client) can take a long(!) time to receive large outputs through the network connection, even though the processing ended much earlier. Not really an EG issue, but you could put this into a Code node: PROC SORT DATA = inputdsn OUT = temp; BY var1 var2 var3; RUN; DATA unique duplicates; SET temp; BY var1 var2 var3; IF NOT LAST.var3 THEN OUTPUT duplicates; ELSE OUTPUT unique; RUN; "var1 var2 var3" are the variables used to identify the duplicated records. Assuming the SAS 8 code used in the EG 3 projects still works in SAS 9, the EG 3 projects will be automatically converted to EG 4 when they are saved in EG 4, but can still be run unchanged with EG 4. Have you tried converting the numeric result using a PUT() function in the THEN clause? You may need to change the BEST. format to suit your data values: Case When "Var01"n=0 then 'abcdef' Else PUT("Var01"n/100, BEST.) End Data step code statements are probably too relaxed, and will auto-convert numeric and character values, as necessary. I got round the problem of Netscape not being installed by linking to Firefox instead: ln -s /usr/bin/firefox /usr/bin/netscape SAS is happy, as the Netscape parameters used are compatible with Firefox. Your swap file could be located on any local drive, but is probably on the C drive. Assuming you are using Windows XP, you can find out where by looking in Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Performance section > click Settings button > Advanced tab > Virtual Memory section > click Change button. The drives available are listed and the drive where the swap/paging file is located is shown here. I have some questions which will affect my answer to your query: (1) Where is your F drive? If it is not on your local PC then the network delays will affect your execution times much more than any shortage of disk space on the drive itself. On your local PC shortage of disk space may not affect on execution times, but are more likely to cause step failures if the disk becomes full. (2) Lack of memory is more likely to affect execution times than lack of disk space. If your program requires more memory than is physically available, Windows will increase the virtual memory by using the disk-based swap file. Ted, For when you move to EG4, I've now found the same functionality in EG4: (1) Open the project in EG4. (2) Click on Tools > Replace SAS Server... (3) Highlight the server(s) you want to replace in the SAS Execution Servers, or OLAP Servers, list and click the Replace button under that list.
