No, that isn't correct. Applying patch updates, version upgrades, or changes to your configuration by rebuilding a reapplying your assets would not remove your existing configurations. Those are persisted in the sas-viya-consul-data-volume-* PVCs.

The host status 'closed_busy' usually indicates that one of the host's load indices has exceeded the amount specified in the lsf.cluster.<cluster_name> file in the LSF configuration directory. An example would be Begin Host HOSTNAME model type server r1m mem swp RESOURCES #Keywords apple Sparc5S SUNSOL 1 3.5 1 2 (sparc bsd) #Example In this example, if the 'r1m' load index exceeded 3.5 or the available physical memory used went below 1MB the host 'apple' would show as closed_busy. Load index definitions can be found in the LSF Administration Reference (such as https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSWRJV_10.1.0/lsf_admin/load_indices.html)

What happens to various solutions hosted on the platform and there customization? We have SAS AML solution along with VA and Dataflux hosted on 9.4 M3 multi-tier platform. We are planning for an in place upgrade to M6 and wanted to collect some valuable information and experience. My primary questions for now: - Any specific M6 prerequisites that I need to consider for the upgrade? For example Oracle /RHEL version/ Any new packages to be installed? - If configuration changes have been made post implementation e.g. SSL configuration/JRE/OpenSSL upgrade, do we have to revert them all back and bring the environment to the same state as it was after the initial implementation?

This location depends on your SAS installation, so ask your SAS administrator. From your other post I take it that you do not have a metadata server at all, so this code won't be of any help to you anyway. For better help, provide thorough information about how your SAS system is set up and how you use it.

As @Kurt_Bremser correctly mentions in his reply, the limitation of configuring SAS Token Authentication is that you lose granularity of host access on the workspace servers. You'll need to be very aware of the privileges assigned to the service account on the host operating system - if it's configured to have generous privileges, than any user's workspace server session will also have that generous access to the host OS (although you can apply some access restrictions via SAS metadata). I'm interested in understanding the business value / reason behind the type of configuration you are asking about. Can you give us more info about why this configuration is desired at your site?

That is due to your sas session encoding is different from the sas dataset encoding. Change your sas encoding into the same as sas dataset .

If you launch the SAS Deployment Wizard from the newer depot it will detect the already installed software and will only allow you to upgrade the software thats there. For a simple desktop deployment this update is very simple to run through. Take a backup of a system and try it.

In SAS, a maintenance release is similar to a Release in Windows. It is basically the same SAS 9.4 major version, but including all the hotfixes available for the previous release/maintenance and most probably also some new minor versions/features. In SAS a maintenance release can be identified by opening SAS Foundation and watching the top of the initial log, marked as SAS 9.4 MX, i.e, SAS 9.4 M5, for the 5th maintenance of SAS 9.4 Yes, in the SAS 9.4 you can easily upgrade to maintenances on the same SAS major version. But not between major versions. Meaning: - You can upgrade from SAS 9.4 M1 to SAS 9.4 M2, M3, M4 or M5, no problems. - You cannot upgrade from SAS 9.3 or SAS 9.2 to SAS 9.4 - You cannot upgrade from SAS 9.3, SAS 9.4 to SAS Viya. For the cases I mentioned you cannot upgrade, you will be always able to migrate. I hope it is clearer now.
