I know what you mean - it's like yellowish and kind of stands out at the top of the workbook. However, for these ones, that option is not there. i save it to my desktop and i still cannot edit it until i create a new sheet. i look in the advanced options of excel and allow editing is checked off. Any other ideas out there?

i have a temp dataset that I use ODS to output as a .xlsx: ods excel file="/myDir/…/myFile&datz..xlsx" options(sheet_name="mySheet0"); proc print data=temp1 noobs label; run; and i send to email with … attach = ("/myDir/…/myFile&datz..xlsx" content_type="application/xlsx") … my issue is, when i retrieve the file, i cannot add filters or do anything with the data...unless i simply add another sheet to the workbook; then i can interact with it. How can i send an email with a .xlsx file that is useable without having to create a new sheet each time i open it? Thank you

i don't really care how many times it goes through, but i do care if it goes past a certain time mark, 1700 for instance. I'll do that. thanks again for all your help out there.

here is what ended up working: else do; put 'file not available' ; x = sleep(60,1); end; without the ,1 in the sleep, i don't beleive the program slept, its jsut kep going through the loop and continually prints 'not available', but now it works as i like. Thanks so much!!

Hi, I automated a program that processes a file. The file is transferred to a directory (mydir) and is typically available by a certain time (noon lets say). However, activity has grown, thus the file has grown, and has been late to arrive a few times recently. I'm trying to code some handling to check if the file is available, and if it isnt, sleep and write a message to the log until it is available. I'm having trouble getting the message to print to the log. here's my program: data _null_; isthere = 0; do until (isthere = 1); if fileexist("/mydir/myfile.txt") then isthere = 1; else x = sleep(60) and put 'file not available' ; end; libname pdb0 "/mydir"; data temp0; set pdb0.myfile; run; proc print data = temp0 (obs = 10); run; Every time the program sleeps, i also want it to print 'file not available' to the log. I've searched a bunch but can't seem to find a good solution. Can someone please help? Thank you, Jon

OK, thank you...I'm having trouble finding reference for mysetup: i'm using sas on linux, i write my programs in notepad++ as a .sas file and run it under the sas command. Any leads on which version/method of FILENAME PIPE to use? Thanks again, Jon

I have about 30 files to read and process from separate directories '/path/2019/0421/target.sas7bdat.gz' '/path/2019/0420/target.sas7bdat.gz' '/path/2019/0419/target.sas7bdat.gz' '/path/2019/0418/target.sas7bdat.gz' ... With uncompressed .sas7bdat files, i load them with libname and reference them in a set statement within a data step. But, that is not working with the compressed files. As I'm trying to start small here, I began with this, which doesn't work either ( https://blogs.sas.com/content/sasdummy/2017/10/10/reading-writing-gzip-files-sas/ 😞 filename pdb32 zip '/path/2019/0421/target.sas7bdat.gz' gzip; data temp0 ; infile pdb32 obs = 10; run; proc print data = temp0 ; run; The log keeps yelling at me that the gzip at the end of the filename statement is an error (i turned the slashes around too, and got the same result). Can someone lend some guidance on how I can read and process these files in a way similar to the libname - set statement method? Thank you very much, Jon

this is a python method for getting a domain from an ip: import socket try: a = '52.216.64.218' b = socket.gethostbyaddr(a) print(b) except socket.error: b = 'No Host Found' print(b) it's easy to do it in reverse as well. So, any update on this? is it possible through PROC HHTP somehow? speaking of which, is there any good documentaiton/whitepapers on PROC HTTP? i could only find limited resources on it. thanks

I have a CSV that includes a single column of all IP addresses. I'd like to build another column by determining a domain name from the IPs and filling that new column, with the determined domain name. I can do this no problem in powershell or a python program, but I can't see to figure out if it's possible with SAS, where i need to do my work. Is this possible with SAS? I've seen proc http, but i couldn't find any indication that it's possible there. anything info on here will help, I seem to have hit a wall with this. thanks

I'm pretty far along into a report. Right now I have a data set that looks like this (not real data, i understand column 2 and 3 are not sorted, but it is in my program): friend treats count bird pop 3 bird eggs 134 bird fish 12 cat ham 8 cat soda 12 dog meat 3 dog eggs 4 dog fish 1 dog cereal 1 dog candy 1 And I'm trying to get an output of this: friend treats count percentage bird pop 3 2% bird eggs 134 90% bird fish 12 8% cat ham 8 40% cat soda 12 60% dog meat 3 30% dog eggs 4 40% dog fish 1 10% dog cereal 1 10% dog candy 1 10% I'd post code that i have which attempts to do this, but suffice it to say, it's not worth sharing. Any thoughts or ideas are much appreciated. thank you.

I must say, you're comment here struck a nerve with me. At first, i was kind of upset - how could they? But then I realized, maybe what this person is really trying to do is motivate me. So, I took to proving you wrong so that I could get to where I need to be. In that, I was proving that the var generated for the set statement was as it should be....and it is. I checked with a prog that already has it, and the file location itself. it all matched. but i was sitll getting the error...then it donned on me to check the libname statement. i did and discovered i left out the leading forward slash. i put that in and everything is icecream. you're right though, i should have known that the .DATA is a feature of the message, not what was actually being executed. I won't forget that the next time around. before i hang my head in shame, i just want to thank you, and anyone else who's attempted to help my mistake here. i shall not forget this episode. ok, now im hanging my head...................................and I'm done. moving on. thanks again.
