if any one know the answer please post how to by group the observations based on some value here the value is 1000000. the sum of the employee salaries equals to 10 lakh. then displays 10lakh count(no of employes) like wise the total data is covered. Based on 10 lakh i need groups its not between the 10 lakh its the sum of all the persons.

yes there is a lot of importance . its not exactly 10 lakh. its near to 10 lakh and also more than 10 lakh also but not exceeding . means below 10 lakh ok and above also ok. after grouping i need count of employees. This is for analysis purpose.

its not group by salary. the salaries are different manner in this data. if the sum of 20 persons is 1000000 then those are in one group. and the remaining persons salaries equals to 100000 then those are second group. the first group persons are not included in second group. like wise all the persons are covered.

Hi all, i have data set contain the variables emp_id, and salaries. assume there will be 2000 records. emp_id are different and salaries are changed based upon their positions. salaries are min 10000 and maximum 500000. devide this salaries into 10 groups then each group contain the salaries of 1000000. i.e. if the first ten members salary is equals to 10 lakhs then we want the output as. sum of value count(persons) 1000000 10 1000000 15 note:we don't take salaries between 1 and 10 lakh. we need the sum of persons salaries sum equals to 10 lakh. in the second observation also same. The first case who are considered in the second record those persons are not considered. There are remaining of who we are considered in first observation. like 10 groups we need. how this process is done in sas. if you know please comment.. Thanks in advance.

thank u Allaluiah. I want cooperation like you sir. If we are beginners and asking some of doubts and queries how to solve it. I appreciate what you said. But what is the main problem in this sas community some of persons are feeling over enthusiasm and replying why you are posting unnecessary. and saying why you are doing your work with others. my sincere advise is if you know answer and if you like to do post answer those people are welcome. But if you know answer and not even like to post the answer then keep silence don't questioned other one. and judge them. its my humble advise. No one knows all in this world. We know little bit only. SAS its a ocean there is a lot of concepts and procedures in this. So No one knows all. Hi all, empid salary 1 15000 2 20000 3 30000 4 45000 5 60000 6 70000 7 10000 8 20000 9 100000 10 35000 11 40000 12 7000 13 90000 14 80000 15 70000 16 65000 17 87000 18 56000 19 8000 20 7000 21 12000 22 19000 23 23000 24 34000 25 46000 26 58000 27 67000 28 78000 29 5000 30 84000 having the data like above. empid and salary information is available in pdf. min salary is 5000 and maximum is 100000. i want the output like devide this salaries into 5 group. each group contain 20000 salaries. i.e. sal_group count(employees) 1st group 0-20000 number of employees in that each group. 2nd group 20000-40000 number of employees in that each group. last group 80000-100000 number of employees in that each group. thanks in advance.

Hii all i have to data like this Emp_id contract_type year no_of_policies 101 A 2010 10 101 B 2010 15 101 C 2010 20 45 101 D 2010 5 45>=36 101 E 2010 12 101 F 2010 10 72 DEVIDED/2=36 102 A 2010 30 102 B 2010 18 102 C 2010 26 74 102 D 2010 12 102 E 2010 9 74>=51 102 F 2010 7 102 DEVIDED/2=51 102 A 2011 78 102 B 2011 45 102 C 2011 65 188 102 D 2011 35 102 E 2011 80 188 IS NOT>199 102 F 2011 95 398 DEVIDED /2=199 the contract_type A,B,C are consider as one group i.e. REG_POL. what my requirement is that in 2010 year the emp 101 is done 72 policies. In that the group of REG_POL share is 45 . then may find that the total no of policies in that perticular year devided by 2. the REG_POL value should be greater of than of this (no_of_policies/2) . The final output we want only that employees who done their maximum policies in REG_GROUP. we need only that type of employees. if not ignore that employee. in above example the first two employees are selected. and the third employee is rejected. please give your valid comments to solve this type of query. using the what ever procedure i trying to by using proc sql. Hi all, can you give your valid comments to solve this type of query. i have two datasets 1. annuity 2. policy annuity variables are account_no, account_value, policy_no. policy variables are policy_no, year, p_type. in policy_type we have the different types suppose A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H. We consider A,B,C,D are one type let us consider it as reg_policy. The remaining all are individual. now we want the output like Account Number Sum_of_acccontvalue No_of_policies ranks 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2010 2011 2012 The condition is that 1. If the no_of_policies example like in 2010 is 100 then policy_type in that reg_policy is the maximum value compare to remaining all. We want only that information. 2. Ranks are given based on sum_of_accountvalue with year wise.

hi all, i have the dataset with variables id name joining date and salary the birthdate is in the format date9. now i have to read birthday only year i am trying with substr function but not getting the result. can some one help me. i tried as x=substr("join_date"d, length("join_date"d)-3,4); Is it correct?

No question initially i tried this task but i didn't get proper output. So that i posted in community. Later again i worked on it. Then i got output by using this code. You said you are not trying and doing your work with others. So i am posted what i have done to get the final result. That's all.

Hi Reeza sir i tried this task and below the code In D drive policy_folder the data is available. There will be 5 years in that. 2003 to 2007. In that subfolders are there month wise I taken months names from 1 to 6. and the datasets are in the form of ds_1 to ds_4. and resultant dataset will be only one i.e. the merging all the datasets in all the years, %macro years; %do i=2003 %to 2007 ; %do k=1 %to 6 %by 1; libname W_&k.&i. "E:\policy_data\&i.\&k."; %do j=1 %to 4 %by 1; Proc append base=final data=W_&k.&i..ds_&j. force; run; %end; %end; %end; %mend years; %years; The final dataset will be stored in work library with all merging records.

If you don't mind can you explain this step data _null_; file code ; set files; by ftype ; if first.ftype then put 'data final_' ftype ';' / ' set ' ; put fname :$quote. ; if last.ftype then put ';' / 'run;' ; run; I think there is a depth logic in this. Now i am a learner it is difficult for me to understand. please sir explain

Hi Acutally i was posted this question. I am giving some more additional information The files all are having datasets. the datasets having the same structure i.e. same variables ex p_id, p_name, p_amt(policy id, policy holder name, policy amount) i am using sas 9.2 version. windows 7 operating system we have to merge all this datasets by using datastep merge but the final output only 3 three datasets that are having all years information and last the final dataset is only one i.e. final_data it contains all 10years of information Message was edited by: ravikumar kummari
