Hi all, I want to add a footnote to a graph (using proc gplot) which is very long and SAS is not allowing it. If I break the sentence into 2 footnotes, is there a way to remove the line break between the two?. So, this would mean the second one starts where the first one ends on the same line. Thanks. VD

Cynthia, Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have changed the output to html in EG. My string is of the following format. I tried it by using the code you have provided. proc print data=sashelp.class (obs=2); run; %let str2=%str(aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, bbbbbbbb, bbbbbbb - c.e. fffffffffffffffffffffffff. ggg g'h hhhh. iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Jjjjjjjjjjj. kkkkk, llllllll, mmmm.); ODS text="&str2"; Also tried with ODS html text. I do not get any result or an error message. It just keeps on running. Not sure if it was required but I also tried masking the special characters in the string. That didn't work either. Vikas

Hi, I am using this statement to output a text to the EG HTML : ODS HTML(ID=EGHTML) text= "...." The number of characters in the text (including spaces) is 531. The output shows only the first 245 characters. I get a warning in the log that "The quoted string currently being processed has become more than 512 characters long. You may have unbalanced quotation marks." I can suppress this by using the noquotelenmax option. But the output does not show the full text (531 characters). Is there an option to programmatically change the default number of characters? Thanks.

It is a stand alone graph. The output is the default HTML in EG. I added this option in the code: ODS HTML(ID=EGHTML) FILE=EGHTML STYLE=EGDefault nogfootnote; It has more or less resolved the issue (the graph is still a bit squashed but a lot better than before). Many thanks for the suggestion.

If you are using proc gplot to get the boxplot, you can try using INTERPOL=BOX25 in the symbol statement. This will restrict the values to the 25th to 75th percentile.

I had faced a similar issue while using Proc SGPANEL. I managed to solve it by using the NOVARNAME option. You can check if it works in proc gchart.

Hi, When I use footnotes in a graph (using proc gplot, device=SASEMF in EG 4.1), the footnotes tend to reduce the size the graph. I want to display the footnotes which do not affect the size of the graph. Is there an option to disassociate the footnotes in a graph from the graph? Thanks. VD

Thanks Chris. I need to somehow give the options programmatically (instead of the File->New->Report step) as I want to output a number of reports iteratively. Could this be done without using ODS or would it be better to use ODS HTML? VD

Thank you all for your replies, much appreciated! %NRBQUOTE and %BQUOTE seem to work fine. But only in Base SAS (9.1). Somehow they are not working in EG(4.1) for me. However I managed to make it work using use call symputx - perhaps not the most neat solution! data _null_; set in1; format Txt1 $76. ; Txt1="Warning - This component has a low value of Cronbach's Alpha (less than 0.7)"; call symputx("WarnTxt1",Txt1); end; Cheers. Hello, When I produce 2 graphs in SAS EG (4.1) in the default HTML viewer, the graphs appear on 2 pages. When I print a hard copy of the output that is also on 2 pages. Is there an option to get both the graphs on the same page? I do not intend to use pdf or rtf output. Thanks. VD

Hi, I want to allocate this value to a macro variable but am getting an error message (using SAS EG 4.1): %let WarnTxt1= Warning - This component has a low value of Cronbach's Alpha (less than 0.7); I imagine this could be due to the length of the string and/or certain characters. Is there a way to make SAS accept this string? The warning I am getting is " The quoted string currently being processed has become more than 262 characters long.
