I've got a couple of different barchartparm -templates used by a report. All resulting graphs are horizontal barcharts but some are grouped and some are not. I need for all the bars in the different graphs in the report to have the same thickness. I'm working om a macro that sets the height of each graph depending on the data sent to the template at runtime (How many groups, how many category values). I'm having a bit of trouble getting it right though. Looking for tips/ideas or possibly a detailed paper on how sas manages/divides the space available?

Thank you both but I just solved it. For one of the four levels (one of the two that has the possibility of getting the same label) I added a right-align to the putc() -function in my proc format. This makes the barchartparm template recognize it as a separate group and when the groups are listed in the legend of the graph, it isn't right aligned anymore so it looks just the way I want it. proc format library=save.session_formats; value $unit_output ... I'm grouping a barchartparm by sites in four groups. leaf node site, parent, that parent's parent, and Nation. All sites have unique ID's but from time to time two unique ID's have the same label. So a leaf node might have ID=12345 and have the label 'Mysite' and it's parent site with ID=98765 might also have the label 'Mysite'. When I send the data to a barchartparm template, of course the two groups are merged into one (and SAS issues a warning). And so I get only three groups instead of four. Is there a way to get the barchartparm to recognize that they're two different groups (to look at the ID instead of the label of the ID variable) ? If not, is there a workaround so that i can present all four groups and have two of them shown with the same name?

No, I couldn't find it either. Figured someone might have a trick up their sleeve. I'll have to tell the client it can't be done.

I can set the tiplabel dynamic to ' ' but then i get "=10% (1 out of 10)". I can't find a way to get rid of the equals sign.

Sample code would be complex... But I'm using SAS GTL. I'd like to control the tooltip in a barchartparm. I can manage "[text of my choice]=[valueofmychoice]" and "=[valueofmychoice" but not just "[valueofmychoice]" without the equals sign. Is there a way to do this? Beeing able to display part of the value as bold would be a bonus... I found some discussions online but the reply stating that it was not possible was kind of old... /Andreas

Thanks JuanS_OCS but the first one didn't do any difference. Tried the second one (although that one seems to be for 7.1 (that I have uninstalled). I had a similar message in the log to the one they described. The note says to look out for this in the log: Certificate failed validation. This either means the package was not signed by a trusted authority or the certificate was revoked. Abort Install. My log says: Certificate validation failed. This is not a valid certificate. Issuer: CN=DigiCert SHA2 Assured ID Code Signing CA, OU=www.digicert.com, O=DigiCert Inc, C=US Subject: CN="SAS Institute, Inc.", OU=R&D, O="SAS Institute, Inc.", L=Cary, S=North Carolina, C=US UpdateViewModel - ModelOnDownloadUpdateCompleted() - System.ComponentModel.AsyncCompletedEventArgs However switching to the new AutoUpdate.exe didn't fix the issue...

I've just installed standalone 8.1 (8.1.0.4552) and I'm getting an alert to update to 8.2. I klick "close and update", the progressbar does two lengths and then an error message pops up saying "an error occurred updating sas enterprise guide unable to download the update". I've tried while running 8.1 as an administrator, with and without VPN multiple times and still the same thing. Any ideas? Regards Andreas

I've got a dataset containing three variables (ID, QUESTION, ANSWER) and I want to transpose QUESTION (long to wide). QUESTION is a character variable with a character format. The desired result is a dataset with the variables ID, FIRST_QUESTION, ANOTHER_QUESTION, LAST_QUESTION (this are the unformatted values of QUESTION. However I would like the formatted values of QUESTION to be the labels of the transposed variables. If I just do a proc transpose I get the formatted values as the names of the transposed variables. So it's: ID, This is the first question, Now let's answer another, Finally the last one. I can get the unformatted values by removing the format before transposing but then I can't get the formatted values as labels... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got the following response from a SAS representative a while back when I noticed the same problem: The EG data grid does not currently support setting special missing values. I will add this as a requirement to the EG data grid, since it should handle this better (and as you experienced, can too easily result in a data integrity issue). In the meantime, if you wish to simply view a raw value, press the Esc key (rather than the Enter key or clicking elsewhere) when you wish to leave edit mode for a cell, so the value is not committed back to the source
