Could you please explain to me what does this warning actually mean?

Is it a non convergence warning and if yes, what has affected: the fields groupings or only the coefficients or both?

Thanks!

To make things a bit more complicated, if we are running a solution with minclusters=1 and maxcluster=15 and the "Iteration limit exceeded" message only appears in the first 5 steps, shall we worry about the end result (as in clusters=15 the algorithm has been converged)?

Using my trusty internet search engine (varclus "WARNING: Iteration limit exceeded in search phase"), I found this

Because you did not post your code, I do not know whether this note is pertinent to your problem.
