Hi,

I was looking for the equations used to calculate the Type III sum of squares obtained from the following code, but I could not find it. I only found the formula for Type I sum of squares, but I need the Type 3 SS. Can anyone lead me to where I can get the Type 3 SS equations, i.e., SS(A),SS(B),SS(A*B),SSE? I apologize that this is not really a SAS question. I appreciate your help. Thanks!

Here is the SAS code:

data try;
input y batch $ time;
DATALINES;
10 A 1
10 A 2
30 A 3
10 B 1
20 B 2
10 B 3
;
run;

proc glm;
class batch;
model y=batch|time/ solution;
run;

Here is the SAS output for Type 3 SS:

What is ANOVA?

ANOVA, or Analysis Of Variance, is used to compare the averages or means of two or more populations to better understand how they differ. Watch this tutorial for more.
