I am trying to use Proc Distance. Some variables that I have are actually nominal values but it was coded with numbers....such as department code>>> (coded as 123987, 902344 etc.)

How could I tell the Proc Distance that the values are NOT numeric??? How could i tell Proc Distance that the numbers are actually nominal values???

Thank you for all your help

Though not my personal expertise area, there are SAS support http://support.sas.com/ references you may find useful -- I used the Google advanced search argument below to find them (for your future reference as well):

What is ANOVA?

ANOVA, or Analysis Of Variance, is used to compare the averages or means of two or more populations to better understand how they differ. Watch this tutorial for more.
